HMG's Offshoring Policy

This policy (attached and available for download below) is aimed at Senior Information Risk Owners (SIROs) in Central Government Departments and Agencies, to help them consider offshoring at OFFICIAL.

Offshoring is defined as “Any arrangement where the performance of any part of the services or a solution under a contract may occur outside the UK for domestic (UK) consumption”.

All offshoring at OFFICIAL is subject to approval by either a departmental SIRO or the Government SIRO (GSIRO), dependent upon the dataset risk type and the proposed offshore location.

This document helps SIROs to consider whether offshoring is safe, legal, sensible, the right solution for their business, and the best value for money option.
